MTV Grant Project Kick-Off announcement: Realising Cyber-Physical system for Tomographic Volumetric Manufacturing

Location : In TU/e Eindhoven, 19th October,2026.

We are pleased to announce the kick-off of the MTV project, bringing together representatives from TU/e, Motion Imager and M2i. The project received funding from TKI HTSM through the strategic programme High Tech Materials coordinated by M2i.

The event also welcomed two newly appointed PhD researchers, whose combined expertise will help integrate materials chemistry, physics and manufacturing technologies. Discussions focused on developing a computational framework that integrates materials engineering with instrumented near-net-shape manufacturing. The framework aims to improve control over both material properties and the manufacturing process, enabling greater accuracy at different stages of tomographic volumetric manufacturing.

We are confident in the potential of this approach to push beyond the limitations of conventional industrial manufacturing and layer-by-layer additive manufacturing, particularly in realizing complex structural designs with high geometric resolution. These advances could open up new possibilities for enhanced functionality and improved product performance.

The proposed cyber-physical system for tomographic volumetric manufacturing, represents a transformative step towards a new generation of manufacturing technologies. By integrating computational modelling, process monitoring and material formation into a closed-loop manufacturing process, the project aims to move beyond sequential layer-by-layer additive manufacturing towards volumetric near net-shape manufacturing, with material and product properties tailored to specific design requirements.

Stay tuned for future updates.

PS : The news note has been jointly prepared by all the three stakeholders TU/e, Motion Imager and M2I..
